You didn't really expect to accumulate all that debt and then simply enroll in a free debt management program and start from scratch without having to pay for help, did you? Well, earth to debt-riddled consumer, that is a physical impossibility. You can, however, take advantage of the portion that is free and save a great deal of money.
When people talk about free debt management, they mean the following things are free:

- Consultation
While that may not sound like much to you, that will already amount to a great deal in savings. Sure, you still have to pay for the actual program, but savings in those departments will save you a great deal of money.
The Next Step
The next step consists of finding free debt management, and that is easier done than said. For all intents and purposes, all you have to do is type the words "free debt management" into any search engine and watch the results come pouring in. Now it's entirely up to you to browse each site for each debt management company to come to a decision. That's the hard part. Just look for companies that are nationally certified and accredited, that have physical street addresses, that are clear about their fees and what's free and are willing to answer all your questions. And remember--a debt management program is only as good as the company that provides it. Keep that in mind when doing your homework.
